Where to Eat

Majestic Casares has a huge variety of places to eat right on its doorstep, as well as further afield, and the Carretera de Casares is well known along the coast as a gourmet hotspot.

The Forge

An old favourite and famous amongst a select few for their extra long lunches. The Forge is a small restaurant and very well established, having been open for over twenty years. The Forge is open for dinner in the hot summer months, and lunches during spring, winter and autumn. The chef patron, focuses on classic dishes, done well, some with a Moroccan flavour. The restaurant also offers regular off-menu specials including rib of wild boar, and an excellent take on a Thai curry. The restaurant also has a small but cosy bar, for a postprandial digestif. Booking is essential, so please do call well ahead. In a taxi from Majestic Casares, The Forge is around €20.

Venta García

Located around halfway up the road to Casares village, and at the crossroads with the road to Estepona, Venta García was originally a roadside Venta in the truest sense of the word. The restaurant has been in the same family for many, many years and is now successfully run by Juan Jesus Garcia, and offers a modern take on Spanish food. It offers great value at any time of the day, especially weekday lunchtimes when Jesus offers a Menu del Dia, which changes with what’s available that day. There is also a great outdoor bar area for pre and post dinner drinks though the highlight is the main dining room which has super views of the Casares countryside. In a taxi from Majestic Casares, Venta Garcia is around €15.

La Sal Chiringuito

La Sal is a much loved beach bar and chiringuito and, best of all, it is a short (though slightly hilly) walk from Majestic Casares. It specialises in all things fish and also offers a small selection of meats and salads. The paella is also a popular choice. It is located right at the water’s edge, almost literally at the end of the road to Casares (Carretera de Casares).
